2-story Inspiration

We would like to build a house inspired by the 1958 house next door. Ideally we will replicate the modernist style and create floor to ceiling windows upstairs & downstairs too. I love the way the house is accessed via the stairs up the side, entering into the upstairs kitchen living area. It is such an uplifting feeling to walk into an elevated view right in the heart of the home. We would hopefully have another living area downstairs too rather than a garage. The idea is to set the house back so we can have plenty of North-facing garden at the front to look out onto (and to give some privacy).

This house by renowned Melbourne Architect Robin Boyd is a fantastic benchmark for the sort of feel we would like to create. It is from the same era.

Another simple geometric floor-to-ceiling window house. If it were mine I would sink it into the landscape with plenty of planting!

More excellent  2-story simplicity (Robin Boyd again)
